History

A very important event took place on January 31, 2002 in Geneva. Mikhail Gorbachev prominent statesman, President of Green Cross International and Oleg Semenovych Tymoshenko, Founding President of Green Cross Ukraine, Rector of the National Music Academy of Ukraine, academician, people's artist of Ukraine signed the Agreement on Recognition between Green Cross Ukraine and Green Cross International.

This Agreement has granted the status of National Organization to Green Cross Ukraine, public, not-profit, charitable organization, which has functioned since 2000.

While signing the Agreement Mikhail Gorbachev warmly congratulated the President of Green Cross Ukraine and expressed his profound respect for Ukraine and its nation. He emphasized his readiness to render assistance to the Ukrainian GC National Organization at the present - extremely difficult for Ukraine - political stage.

Green Cross family currently has subsidiaries located in 31 countries, namely Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Ghana, of Denmark, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Jordan, Canada, Ivory Jordan, Netherlands, Pakistan, South Korea, Poland, Russia, Swaziland, United States, Hungary, Ukraine, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Sri Lanka and Japan.

Сапига Юрий Станиславович

Yuriy Sapiga - Founder, Chairman of the Board GCU, Executive Director, Coordinator of the International Program in Ukraine, corresponding member of the Ukrainian Technological Academy, section of "Ecology".

Born on July 17, 1969 at the station Popilnya, Zhytomyr region. From 1987 to 1991 he passed military service in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany. 1993-2004 worked at the National Music Academy of Ukraine. In 2004 he graduated from the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Film and Television named after I.K. Karpenko-Kary, got specialty of theatre theorist at the department "Organization and Management. Theatre art".

Mr. Sapiga conducts scientific, educational and productive activities. Published 20 works. Working closely with international partners. He facilitates and organizes meetings between government representatives, supports forums and conferences, promoting cooperation and joint development of international relations, attracts foreign partners, investors and sponsors who provide help in solving the social, health and environmental issues in Ukraine.

He has got numerous acknowledgments, diplomas and awards from regional and district administrations, orphanages and boarding schools, partner organizations and medical institutions for his commitment, rendered aid, charity and personal contribution to the formation of well-being, prosperity and a happy healthy future for children in Ukraine.
