Are water-related issues urgent for you?
Nowadays the world community faces with problems of fresh and drinking water and water management issues. Anthropogenic transformations have reached the global scale. In spite of a huge number of strategic documents adopted by the international community, the present situation with the fresh water is a source of grave concern.
The water balance and natural regime of rivers and lakes, which are the main source of the fresh water, have been disturbing. Waste discharges from the industry, power engineering, cities, cattle-breeding centers, decentralized sources of pollution strongly affect superficial and groundwaters. The access of population to sources of fresh drinking water, particularly in rural areas, is restricted.
In order to prevent further depletion and pollution of water resources, and provide national and regional security, the comprehensive, scientifically grounded approach to the management of use and conservation of water resources is required. The resolution on the right to water and sanitation adopted this year is striking example of concern and attention of many countries. This resolution was adopted and actively implemented in practice with the active support of Green Cross International.
